Knowledge is kung fu

The above is a secret few people in the West actually know, let alone practice. Bruce Lee himself said "I'm not afraid of the man who knows 100 kicks, but I am afraid of the man who practiced one kick 10,000 times."

Most people can read a book. But after reading the book, they still do not know (meaning that they don't have the "capacity for effective action" in their daily lives). That's because a book may SUPPLY knowledge, but it never teaches readers how to APPLY that knowledge.

This is why reading an entire book is often a waste of time. Better to browse through one, and pick up a powerful principle or idea that you then aggressively apply in YOUR life, on a daily basis, and see if it actually works. If it DOES work and you get the desired results, then it is reasonable perhaps to buy the book and try to apply more of its ideas.
